Need to learn a few basic phrases and words cause there a new guy in work and he working with me as I look after some of the new starters. He speaks very little english and this is gonna cause some trouble. I cant even say his name for starters - There also another shipment of them arriving in the near future, so would like to be polite and welcoming

Anyone speak polish on here who can help me out or anyone recommend one of them online language courses

Dare I suggest making him learn English rather then pandering to their needs? If he's going to live here then he should make an effort. A basic knowledge of English should be a minimum requirement before they are allowed to live and work here...

he does try steve but i dont have a clue, i told him to turn left and he turns right - he confused

they are having english lessons but work needed them in a hurry, they apprantly have to know basic english before they send them over

A bloke at work is Polish, but his English is good enough to hold a half decent conversation with him. I'm trying to get him to teach me Polish but he doesn't want to

i know whay you mean about names... i still get post for ms malgorzata swietoniowska (what a mouthful! and yes i mean the name not the bird!), if he knows her can he tell her and her bloke i have stacks of post for them !

I work with poles, slavaks and latvians, all excellent english especially the slovakian. Just talk nice and slowly and if needs be a few actions may help.

Im sure he/she will pick up 'Gaz needs a nurse/doctor/hospital' and 'Gaz has blown up the caravan again' pretty quick

Most Polish birds are stunning :worship: , one example is Ola off of strictly come dancing! I dont watch it, my mum does....honest!

One of my new friends in uni is Polish, but her English is excellent. She also knows French. She used to translate between the three languages for a french minister!

So you're letting some Polish guy come over here and put you out of your job?

polish guy will work for half gaz price, so wont be long before they get rid of the gazs, so may aswell get a new job now.

hey all i know in polish is chezch or sumot like that it means hello dnt know no more tho lol but sum of the polish are quite amusing once ya get to know em.... well we hav loads round here and its like mini poland but they are hardworkers! lol

It not the polish that want to put me out of a job, there another 3 coming tonight

They have to be on the same wages as us dave, but get accomodation paid for, well for a few weeks until they get themselves sorted. There gonna be about 20 in total soon, we gonna be the minority.

I cannot complain about his workrate, he gets his head down and does it. He puts many of the people there to shame

they dont want the jobs, or they take them and only last a few weeks, store cannot afford the high turnaround

have seen many people come and go on nights, seems they dont want the work
