I am planning a road trip and need dash cam for it, recommend me good one please.

I'll do this in a Best, Better, Good order.

Best - Roadhawk -
+ Features, playback quality, reliability and design.
- Cost and not compatible with older PC/laptops.

Better - Nextbase/Garmin -
+ Readout, quality of playback and availability.
- Sound quality (I mute mine), wide angle lens makes things look further away and can overheat.

Good - Cheap petrol station special -
+ Cheap.
- Limited life span, playback quality and cheap.

If it's only for a short while get the cheapest one you can find. If you plan to keep it in your car for insurance (some offer a discount if you have one) and assurance get the best one you can afford.

Also high quality memory cards. There's no use spending £200+ on a camera and the Poundland memory card screws up.

Hi,
Just to let you know that a number of our insurance schemes do offer premium discounts for the fitment of a HD dash cam.
Regards,
Dan.

I've got a Nextbase one, it's okay. We've bought a few and they seem to be rife with problems - not starting when powered up, switching themselves off.

As above the lens does make things look further away, but I'd imagine that can be explained if need be.

Quality is pretty good though.

Watch a few car crash/dashcam videos on YouTube. Many of them show the cam name in the vid, so you can compare pic and sound quality.
From that research, the mid-upper range Nextbase ones seem a good buy. Seem to be good all round, whereas Blackvue don't appear as good in poor light.
From memory, a Viofo A119 (might be completely wrong on that, but something similar) seems good at the higher end of the cheap ones.
