i sorted out the insurance today, got fully comp and a nice little refund

Now i want to pick the car up on friday, i dont have any tax though, i have mot and now insruance, i dont have the log book cos thats been sent off, i do have the new keeper supplement V5SC/2

Is it possible to tax the car using this as it has all the car details on there?

I also declared my accident to my insurance, they never took any details of it so i dunno if they wrote anything down on my records

any help would be greatly appreciated

Sammi, you can tax it using the new keeper supplement. If you take that to the tax office with the mot cert and insurance cert or cover note you can tax it.

brilliant i was hoping i could do that, do i need to fill in the boxes on the supplement with my details or wouldnt that make a difference?

you'll need to fill in a form at the post office (application for road fund license i think it's called), and take the new keeper suppliment, insurance certificate, and MOT Cert too.

I've had to do this twice (audi and the bravo), just make sure it's the insurance certificate and not the policy schedule, otherwise it'll be a wasted trip.

they said they are sending out the cert today, so hopefully can get this sorted. downside it that its almost end of the month so will lose out

cant you wait till next wednesday? or you will be paying for a whole months tax for just few days, or see if you can get next months tax on friday, i think you allowed too do it 3 working days in advance

If the person at the office is nice, just ask if you can have it start from next month and give a reason as to why you won't be able to drive the car until then and that you also won't be able to come back on the day you would have to as you're going away for a few days.

(someone else might have to drive the car on the 1st of the month but they wont have the documents to get the road tax and I won't be in the country so you're doing it now cause its the only way)

hmm thing is i need to drive it back from blackpool, which is 40miles and once its home i doubt i will be in it the rest of the month anyway, unless i go to Hs or something.

also need to get tax back on the coupe and declare it sorn

I dont have the tax disc cos i think it came out when the car rolled

The DVLA know everything. just give the coops REG plate and they will find it on the database.

If you got a Tax Disc on its unlikely you'll get stopped, ANPR might get you though but its unlikely and if you explain it you'll be ok. when you bring it back just park it up and wait until it becomes valid and away you go. H can come visit you

ANPR is red-hot round my area - I wouldn't do it!
