ok.. so crazy mad max mode engaged:

so my panda:

all drive system out so just the shell, sat on a suzuki 1.9 (or bigger) diesel SJ frame with a large lift and huge run flat wheels.

weld a few fuel tanks to the front section of roof and give them a little protection using some light sheet steel.

replace standard components with uprated parts, like braided brake hoses, perspex windows, silicone hoses etc..

weld all the doors up and add strengthener bars so they wont collapse if i slide sideways into something.

weld up an external roll cadge and cut recesses into the body panels so i can sink in a winch, one for each side of the car. that way if i roll it over i can always get it back on its wheels again.

protect the underside of the car with various guards.

use walkway flooring to bar the windows. weld it in, in between the the bars of the external roll cadge.

cut a sizable hole in the rear roof and weld a hefty "hatch" to it for assess to the inside. not forgetting to weld some pipe around the car to use as a ladder to get up on top of the car.

like my old idea, make and weld a pointed plough to the front of the car so i can part my way through herds of zombies.

make a few electrically driven chainsaw type devices using maybe starter motors for ultimate power so they don't get clogged up by the zombies cloaths. then weld them at about knee hight to the car just after the plough. also add a few to the back and sides of the car.

make up some kind of pneumatic punching spike that can be pushed through well placed holes in the sides of the car to pick off any troublesome zombies. drive the pneumatics by removing the A/C compressor and fitting a small 7.5 ton lorry compressor in its place.

of course, add a good battery or two to the car. uprated electronics all around including alternator(s) and lights.

also have rigged in a geared down small backup engine should the main one fail. only a small one say 2 or 3 cylinders. enough to creep out of situations.

things i'd take:

heavy rope and steel rope.
power saw and bolt croppers.
water purifire with spare filters + carbon.
freze dried food and tined food (stuff that will last)
Knives, axes, shovels, tools etc
torches, maybe night vision (if i could get into the local army surpless place) and anything else handy for night / dark places.
motorbike jacket, trousers, gloves, boots and some kind of head protection. zombies cant bite through that!
multi band ham radio set. HF/VHF/UHF receiver with auto tune. automatic tuning aerial(s). signal boosters for the different bands.
medical supplies.
one of those small portable generator you see street performers use so i can power electronic things like petrol pumps and door locks.
toilet paper... lol

come at me zombie bros

I actually have a mortal fear of this ever happening, so I'd probably just end it if I heard news of it.

However, if I were to have enough balls to try to survive, my panda trekking would be covered in titanium spikes, with a few circular saws and a giant pick axe fixed to the front. I would have the folding passenger seat option to put my feet up after a hard day mowing down the undead, some red bull and some bags of wotsits. In terms of weapons I quite like the idea of a tomahawk.

This has to happen after December though as that's when I'm picking said trekking up.

change of plan.
jump in ford focus go to work tankify it, i have 3 week of rationed supplies, can get about 150L of red diesel
enouth time to come up with a plan, and a tank.

downside, manual padlock gates to escape by.

can't decide focus or vw flatbed van
focus is more reliable be flat bed is more adaptable n carries more weight. adapt em both n make focus a runner vehicle

Love the idea of this thread!

Well first of all i've got my trusty GP.

External Mods - Raised suspension and as big and as fat tyres and can fit in the arches just in case i've got to run over/through zombies or go a little off road. I'd have a cage welded to the front over the grill/bonnet for protection. Nothing too big to save weight. Windows would also be covered by some form of metal bars/cage. Spotlight and also PA on the roof and maybe a couple of containers to carry extra food attached to the outside
Inside Mods - dont think i'd change too much to be honest apart from the controls for the spotlight/PA.

Now i live on a military base so i'm pretty set for the apocolypse. I've already got a stockpile of enough ration packs to feed 4 for a week. I'd take water purification tablets and plenty of water to begin with. 1 rifle, 1 pistol and 1 shotgun with enough ammunition to take over a small town. Also helmet and light body armour each and warm and wet weather kit.

I'd probably be ready to set off in a couple of days but to be honest i'd probably just settle in one of the air shelters with my trusty GP ready to move out when ready :)

After watching a series of short zombie defence training films (The walking dead) I think I'd prefer to carry a set of those Japanese swords, some little ones and a big samurie sword.

Suould be enough to get me through the walkers.

Oh - I'd get some face masks too - the sort used when grinding etc.

Mrs. Beard's 156 is a little too low for driving off-road so I would have to take the Panda.

As for weapons, well, I'll just take a few packs of my holiday snaps. That and reading verbatim from Blackstone's Police Operational Handbook (2014). That sends me to sleep so it'll work like a dream on the undead.
