Posts: 13,581 Thanks: 289 Trader Rating: 0 ![]() | What is there to do in Nottingham? I know at least one member is from Nottingham, so help me out here. On Monday, me and a mate are going visit these guys http://www.smartsrus.com/ Driving there, but the car will be at SRU all day; getting a hybrid turbo, grooved discs, braided hoses, new air filter, remap. So we're going to be stuck in that area, looking for stuff to do. What is there to do, how far from the centre is SRU? Any good shops?

![]() | Re: What is there to do in Nottingham? Nottingham is one of the UK's best shopping destinations. Mainly Victoria Centre, not Broadmarsh which isn't as nice, they are separated by a 10 minute or so walk which goes down Culumber Street (a street with one of the highest number of people passing each shop per minute in Europe), market square and a few other roads. Nottingham is pretty linear so not a worry about getting lost, you can start at one end and basically not make a turn and end up at the end of the shops. Gedling is quite close to where I live (I used to have keyboard lessons there). Actually, I just realised where it is! That's part of my route I take when I go for a little drive. It's a nice long straight road that you go up and down huge slopes (60mph limit) and the smart is just after it goes to a 40 limit) I suppose you might be going from the other direction. You will probably want to get the 44 bus into town and the 45 out, I think it passes that garage, if not, it's not a long walk up to where it does go up that road (It's a red bus). About 20 minutes or so on the bus, you will pass through a few hundred metres from where I live then down a nice long hill into town, which is obvious) Get off at the first stop where lots of people get off, just after House Of Fraser, walk back up to there, browse and leave through the opposite exit which is in Victoria Centre and make your way through. Anything else? I could probably do a lot better...

We're leaving at 6:00am, aiming to get there for 8:30. So will have plenty of time to kill. Sounds like i'll have to go armed with my credit card ![]()

![]() | Re: What is there to do in Nottingham? No, you don't want to walk it, it's about 4-5 miles out at a complete guess, maybe more. Put it like this, I live maybe 45 minutes walk from there (about a 5 minute drive ![]() I actually am surprised I know the garage, I just remember seeing lots of smarts outside of it, never really paid any attention to it. Nothing in Gedling, a little suburb.

![]() | Re: What is there to do in Nottingham? But if you are a tram geek, Nottingham is the place to be. They have brand new bad-ass trams with chrome! lol Rock City is a great venue for gigs. Attracts all the big names but still a nice intimate venue.

![]() | Re: What is there to do in Nottingham? Gaz, yes ![]() Arc, the tram system is one of the most moden in the UK, only opening about two years ago, rumour has it (my rumour) it is also one of the stupidiest and most useless, but oh well, you can't have everything!). It goes nowhere near where you go. I forgot to mention, you want a day ticket, it should be £2.30 but knowing NCT they probably put it up again (www.nctx.co.uk) but that allows travel on any bus and the tram system, or at least it did before!). Red bus both ways, 44 in, 45 out, they go in rings, one clockwise, one anti clockwise, you're near the middle to be honest so getting it the wrong way around wouldn't be the end of the world! Got bowling, laser quest, cinema, a few years old ice rink (very good), millions of bars/pubs/restaurants. There's a V1 (fast food veggie place, if your mate is a veggie) a few subways etc. etc. so many shops...erm, i suppose it's the same as any city of a similar size but I like the layout especially since it's all pretty linear. Oh...I forgot, there's a FOPP, you might like it. Independent music store, pretty big....
