Dunno if this is the correct place to put it, but it's not model-specific so I though that this would do...
I can't seem to find any hard and fast rule here.
For bikes, a max of 93db is allowed and is measured at 3/4 max revs at 45 degrees to the exhaust and 1 metre away.
For the SVA test (strict MOT-type thing for kit cars) a max of 101db is allowed.
At MOT time, your car can fail if the exhaust is 'significantly louder than a standard exhaust in a good state of repair'
Can anyone point me to a rule/value/soemting balck and white that states what you can get away with? Reason for asking is that I've just stuck a backbox on mine and want to know where I stand with regards to spot checks etc.
