Blind spot mirrors

Blind spot mirrors

Not sure that blind spot mirrors on a car are worth it tbh. On a 44 tonne truck I see why they need them. I think its better just to glance over your shoulder before pulling out / changing lanes. I think bikers call it a 'lifesaver'.

Yeah problem is in a car you've got the B pillar in the way.

I do look over my shoulder but I was taught how to drive in a car that had the frog eye style mirrors and it's amazing what else you can see.

Also makes parking easier as you can see the rear wheel and the kerb.(y)

Hi mate,

I have them on my work cars. I have found them useful several times. Especially usefull for motorway driving. Wouldnt fit them to my own cars though.

I can't say i have ever noticed any blind spots on the Gp worthy of Blind spot mirrors there is a fraction of a second on the motorway when they are in your "blind spot" in the mirror but a glance out of the rear side window and you can see them...

(then again i suppose it all depends on how you tall you are how long your legs are and how you sit in the car)

ahh the 'lifesaver'. I drove a car for a week with those little extra mirrors stuck to the wingmirrors. I didnt like them. I found them hard to look at and get used to. I still do the 'lifesaver' in the car.
took my driving instructer a couple of lessons to get me out the habit of checking the mirrors and 'lifesaver' when i started driving instead.

I passed my test then did CBT etc and do the lifesavers with having the odd blindspot on the mk1, find them to have been very useful and my girlfriend has picked up on them and copied it from when she started learning, biggest issue there is the cars shes learnt in, 2 out of 3 have had wide view angle mirrors so it wasn't worth it and her instructors go mental over it

Going for C1 next year, will have to get used to using the mirrors:p

the round adhesive type cost 99p each at my local motorfactor. i fitted some to my GF's car when she was learning to drive, but once she knew how to drive we binned them because they were no longer needed.
