I just saw 3 cars without any lights on in the space of 1 minute - are people really that stupid to realise they haven't got them on?

If ever you were to ask these people, you will find their answer to be something like "I could see everything perfectly well"

With most urban roads being well-lit, a driver is able to see most things at night without using lights, what many fail to realise is that many colours don't show up (or not very well) under street lights so for all intents and purposes, your car may be invisible to other road users & using lights will enable others to see you coming. Using dipped lights then provides a good contrast between the colour of normal street lights & the white of a headlight, enabling drivers to pick out deteails.
Then, of course, there are the cretins who have their fogs on all the time - fogs are absolutely no use as driving lights as their primary task is to throw a beam along the road surface. Under normal weather conditions, this beam is almost lost.

i dont really bother with sidelights, i just go straight from no lights to full lights (y)

although sometimes when im driving around town i put on the sidelights as the stilo's look cool :D

I picked me mate up from train station on tuesday at 9.15 pm, was waiting to pull out onto main road and this saxo thing came up the road with no lights on, and it ended up bein a woman driver:rolleyes: lol

There used to be a gang that thir initialisation was to drive around with no lights on and ram the first person to flash you off the road. The more damage you do the more reeeespec you get. Perhaps its coming back in fashion.

Na cant remember i think it was a London thing in the late 80's early 90's i dont think that it is that hard to believe make a pole and ask how many people have either tried or been run off the road and i think that the results will surprise you unless its just my area.

Hell NO, it's dangerous as all hell. Although I have been caught without my lights on at night, the only time that I have done it, I pulled onto the road from a parking spot in front of the brand spanking new VE Commodore, an unmarked cop car ;(

As for the Volvos, the headlights aren't hardwired on in the newest (MY'00 onwards) models, it was a great feature of the 240's

VOLVO 240 GL's ROCK!!!
