I'm looking for a laptop for my wife - mainly for coursework and internet, so I'm not worried about fancy graphics or a massive hard disk.

What do you think of this Easter offer from PC World, for an entry level laptop at £ 299.99 ?

Not enough RAM. Will struggle with even just the OS, internet explorer and word/excel etc.

not always. my laptop is a p3 500 with 256mb ram running XP pro and it's kept tidy. it has no issues with general use.

thats just me being picky though, if i could fit more ram in there then i would - hell this PC has 2gb!

If you want Vista to run OK, you need 1Gb of RAM. My PC at home has Vista and 512 and its painfully slow with more than 1 or 2 things running:rolleyes:

Try and stick with XP if you are looking for a lowish spec PC(y)
