i cant be arsed telling them i will tell them next year or soemthing

Then don't fit them until next year :) You will not have valid insurance should you need to claim.

i dont declare any mods, never have, never will, and i dont know anyone who does. oddly enough i dont know anyone who's ever had their insurance declined for undeclared mods either. and i know plenty of people who've made claims. coincidence? i think not. the main issue is that your insurance company will very very rarely look at your car, it will never happen if you're TPFT because your car wont be getting fixed. if you're fully comp and you crash and its your fault, the place you send your car for a quote and repairs wont be your insurance company, just an approved repairer, and even if they notice undecleared mods (one in a million chance) they wont say anything because they want to get paid by your insurance company. its common sense, and proven by experience. most approved repairers will do anything you ask, they know the insurance company is going to pay so they'll do any work you want and just charge the insurance company. last time my brother had a rear end impact he got the front end reprayed as well just because it had a few scratches, the repairer doesn't care, they just charge more for the job. everyone wins (y)

Right, this is copied and pasted directly off a thread on the ClubCento forum - any CC member will verify that this is a straight cut and paste job - this what the guy said............

Had a letter fall on my mat this morning from Asda insurance solicitors stating that if my old insurance company doesn't pay "the amount due in the sum of £1570.83 within the next 7 days we will issue County Court proceedings on you directly". This is from an accident that happened almost a year ago!!
Old insurance company because I forgot (honestly) to tell them about the mods  . They voided the policy from date of inception, and because of this, even though she pulled out on me at a junction, her insurance are holding me responsible for the crash.

I've given their solicitors a call and she instantly offered to half the amount payable as soon as I gave my side of the story (exactly the same as hers except I wasn't indicating to go left in mine!). I simply replied with I'd rather go to court than pay for an accident that wasn't my fault, and if it goes that far I'd be putting in a counter claim to recover the cost of my vehicle.

Im know that it is tempting not to declare the mods but the time the insurance company will see it is if it is a suspected total loss and this usually means big impact and potential injuries to you or to someone.

It is not just the car cost that insurance covers, ambulance and hospital treatment will be billed in the event of a motor accident, also personal injury claims if your insurnace is voided you will have to pay and that is not cheap £4,000 is the average payout for whiplash for example.

if your insurances is voided and the police are involved also expect at least sixpoints on your licence and to have what might be left of your car impounded

I run one highly modified and one modified car and if you choose the right insurer i find the costs aren't that much different in fact last year it was actually cheaper

my insurance company wouldn't accept me lowering the car at first, so I phoned them up and told them that my car was lowered before I bought it, and I didn't notice until a mechanic pointed it out to me...

they accepted without any charge:)
