it deppends a lot on where you are in the uk and what not.
i got my first quote with aviva for £1645. for a 1998 899cc cinq SX.

i find that LV give very cheap quotes online at the moment they are quoting me around £909 to insure my fiat panda 4x4. everywhere else quotes higher.
worth a shot in the game of getting the cheapest insurance.

It's unfortunate if you feel the need to have to go for the cheapest though. Cheapest is never normally the best. Then again I suppose it's all down to what you want out of it.

I can understand if you can save £100/£200. My step dad pays £150, so shopping around he isn't going to save a huge amount, so tends to stay with his current company as he knows they are OK.

But sometimes there is a price difference for a reason other than ratings. Take Tesco value fully comp cover in comparison to fully comp from a main streame insurer. The Tesco version is almost worse than what sme companies cover their their TPFT cover.
