Hello

My insurance company won't let me tint my windows cos I'm a young driver I have to be 25, does this mean my policy is crap or is this standard practice with insurance company's ?

Thanks

what are you trying to tint, front windows?

no cars can have the glass tinted in the drivers door and passenger doors now by law.

I know this as my old stilo had them before the law changed in jan 2004 and i got pulled by the dibble and got a VDRS.

There still is a light limit for glass on the front windows, but the law specifically states things being attached to the glass is a no no, so theoretically, clear film is illegal

That's a bit silly, really, because having security film installed not only prevents thieves from getting in, but also protects you if you crash.

Well fitted, good quality tint film would be exactly the same as factory tint as long as it's the same shade.

There are many companies out there who will cater for a car fitted with tints.

Any serious tint to the rear window greatly hinders the visibily at night so I believe they're doing the right thing for unexperienced drivers.

The only way to enjoy perfectly well tinted windows without sacrificing visibility is to have the factory fitted tinted glass.

No different to driving a van really.

Should have read the T&Cs before you took it out regarding tints and mods.

I know Admiral/Elephant aren't too picky about mods for young drivers, I'm 19, have done small mods and they've been fine, and even not charged me huge amounts for the privilege. May be worth speaking to them to see if they'll let you tint when your renewal comes up (y)

Protects you in a crash? More like hinders your escape or people coming to your aid. Films should be banned IMO.

Tad-bravo are factor tints films or coatings out of interest
