So mums just got a '05 Mini Cooper, We want to move insurance companies so i give a few i know a call to get some quotes.

here is the convo:

Lady: Hello sir how may i help
Me: i am after a quote for a Mini Cooper
Lady: ok sir who is being insured on the policy?
Me: Mum, Dad and then a quote for Mum, dad and myself
Lady: how old are they?
Me: 51
Lady: ok how old are you?
Me: 21
Lady: i am sorry sir we do not do Parent Child insurance for children under the age of 25
Me: is this because i could drive the car as my car?
Lady: yes but we still cant insure you
Me: well i own 3 other cars which i drive, and one of them i drive daily. so you should be able to insure me
Lady: no sorry sir we cannot insure you
Me: ok good bye...... *mumbles* ****ing idiots*mumbles*


i cannot beleive the conversation i have just had, the only insurance company i have come across that do this.

anyone else had this issue?

So they're not willing to put you on as a named driver as your under 25?

Been there done that, but mid term of a policy.

Stilo gearbox caused issues, no worries I though, dad's 2 cars all road going so we'll add me as a named driver.

Call insurance co for 2009 Panda, sorry no named drivers under 25.

Call insurance co for 1993 Panda, sorry no named drivers under 25.

Both different companies (can't remember who off the top of my head).

Dad asked if there was any way around it on the 1993 Panda and they told him yes, cancel poilcy and take it out with another company and the broker quoted £850. Soon told them to PO as I can insure it cheaper in my name on my own policy.

So I went the other way and insure the 2009 Panda on my own policy temporaryily (sp?). My insurance went oh no sir, can't do that as its illegal to have 2 policies on a car at once.

Ok I say, can you enable 3rd party DOC cover for me for 2 weeks on this policy so I'm covers 3rd party on it. No sir, can't do it for anyone under 25.

Ok then, I'd like to cancel my policy then please and I'll go to someone who will enable me to DOC under 25.

Get put on hold.

5 min later, yes sir, we can insure you for 2 weeks on 2009 Panda for £35 all ok.
