As per title but, for companies that don't load the quote for the vehicle being fitted with a stainless steel exhaust.

Before anyone gets on the band wagon about there's no such thing, wrong, had a Clio 172 fitted with a K-Tec stainless steel "Stealth" system and was not penalised for this, can't remember the insurance company though

Anyone come across an insurance company that, can stomach a stainless steel exhaust fitted to their car without, being loaded on a quote i would like to hear what company this was please. Got a renewal coming up and trying to get a reasonable figure is proving hard but getting there slowly.

If you just replace the exhaust system for one made out of stainless I wouldn't worry about insurance as it's not a modification really. I has a new twinpipe system made for my old E36 325i. Same diameter pipe etc, yeah sure it sounded lovely, but I didn't bother telling insurance about that as really it's just a replacement, not a modification.

If it's a correct pattern part then I agree but if it's a specially fitted one like most are then it needs to be declared.

Hear what your saying but, half the amount of insurance companies in this country do not recognize stainless steel as un-modified, hence not factory fitted.
Barmey really, it's not as if it were to release significant power like on high powered cars, a complete oem system for the 100hp is around a grand, whereas after market systems are far less yet we are loaded for "changes to exhaust system".
Can anyone out there recommend a mod friendly insurance company ??

Most companies will load you policy for an exhaust, some will put a sensible load on, some will not.

Feel free to give my company a try, we specialise in modified car insurance and we offer a discount to Fiat Forum members.

Thanks

Well, quick update, after much shopping around, managed to stay with the current insurer, declared changes to be carried out on the car, informed the insurance that there was no increase the vehicles value by addding the parts, not excepting what they first recognised as " MODIFIED ", but more, quality cost effective parts than what they term as modified, pah ! get it right insurance companies
Was quoted 3 different prices, ended up with the middle price, even better than this is that, when giving the best deal we could get elsewhere, we still have beaten the original renewal price with improvement parts that will be fitted soon !!!

So we won in the end, only because we stood our ground and refused to be trodden on and pay an extra loading fee which, i don't mind telling all was an extra £100, totally unjustified. Had the call centre representative completely tongue tied without a logical reason as to why we were being penalised with a £100 increase for improving our car without any underlying issue.

As Charles Lawson would say in the film "The Firm" starring Gary Oldman...

"don't take no ****, sort them out straight, i learned that in the army" :D
