To answer the questions above -

We do offer renewal quotes,
Depends what performance car it is but generally 22 on comp, 19 TPFT.
The code would have carried through from last year, be assured!

Is it still 21 for fully comp for none modded cars? Think it was Chris Knott that wouldn't insure someone fully comp until 21.

It may be worth noting for some the cancellation charges if cancelling a policy mid-term on a policy taken out on this offer.
It is a pro-rata refund but the following fees apply: £58 fee, £35 fee, £10 fee = £103.

These are not stated in any documentation that I can see, I asked about cancelling as I wanted to possibly get more new quotes vs. paying a fee to change address as I don't know if other insurers would also be slightly more expensive for my new address. I think these fees are higher than average though would gladly be told otherwise.

For example, my girlfriend cancelled her Hastings Direct policy as they wanted £80 to change the address saying it was a worse postcode. We actually ended up with an ASDA policy that was £20 cheaper than the original Hastings policy and only had to pay £20 to cancel Hastings. I used the Moneysavingexpert techniques for both quotes and spent a couple of hours and did every form/company on his list (not just the main price comparison sites), so they were as close to 100% of market search as I could do (other than getting an additional 10% price beater broker quote e.g. C. Knott).

Refund Example with £100+ cancellation fees: if I cancel my policy that started last week of April that cost £530, I was told I would only get £280 back, which would probably be less by the time they receive and process that they've received the certificate.

With our scheme, your comments aren't correct.

If someone cancels, then firstly there is a £10 fee as you suggest. However, the commission is reclaimed on the unexpired portion of the policy and if you just cancelled the direct debit without going through the proper channels, eg. informing us first, the third party finance house will charge you £35.

Everything is written down in the terms of business which every customer receives. We would not be licenced to operate if this were not the case.

Hi,
All the comments I made about the fees were exactly what I was told approx 2pm this afternoon on the phone to you. I phoned 08009172274 and selected option for car insurance.

I was on the phone to you informing you about the change of address so I was clearly going through the proper channels. The £35 fee is not mentioned in the terms of business so how else would I know about it? When I asked why the refund would be so low if I was to cancel I was told there is a £10, £35, and £58 fee, all of which apply.

The £35 was the increase because you moved to a higher area. Obviously this wouldn't be mentioned in our terms of business because we would not know if you were going to change address nor where you where going to move to!!!

The £10 was our fee as per our terms of business letter sent to you when you first incepted the policy.

The £58 is a completely separate matter if you cancelled the policy. This is the clawback commission for the unexpired portion of the policy as charged by the insurers. Again this is in the terms of business but of course not the exact charge because nobody would know the date you would cancel from if ever.

Wrong!
£45 was your quoted fee for the increase in premium.
I repeat: When I asked why the refund would be so low if I was to cancel I was told there is a £10, £35, and £58 fee, all of which apply.

£35 increase + £10 fee = £45!!!

Your second sentence is wrong so i think there has been a misunderstanding.

Do you want me to get my colleague who dealt with you to contact you?

I think the issue though Tim is - why is he paying for a policy change when he wants to cancel instead of change? Surely the only fee that should apply is the £58?

:bang:
You don't understand!

The £58 is to do with cancelling the policy.

The £35 + £10 fee are to do with him moving address but keeping the policy going!

These are 2 different issues because he asked 2 questions -
1. How much to change address?
2. How much if i cancel?

My colleague gave him an answer to both but Mathew has added them all together which is not right.

He paid for the change of address instead of cancelling the policy so everything is continuing.

If he came back 2 months later and said 'please cancel' then the £58 or whatever it would be at that time, would apply.

However, he chose to not cancel but just pay the charge for moving to a higher area.
