Is it possible for an 18yr old to get insurance on a group 21 car, if you went to a insurance broker other than the usual high street bunch.

My 20v Marea is group 14 and i insured that at 18.... group 21 is like supercar territory though isnt it?

Yeah I know its super car territory but there is no harm in dreaming lol, how many years no claims have you got?

Anything's possibly, just expect it to hugely loaded as its a very high risk.

I thought it only went up to group 20 anyway

You can get insured but unless you are a millionaire then i wouldnt bother

Im not actually trying to insure anything, 20 I don't know where i got 21 from actually, just wondered how much it would cost. Anyone have any ideas on an Audi R8 lol

You might be able to get the insurance but it will probably cost you more than the car.

IIRC there was a new group introduced for the Mits Evo 8 or should that be 9? FQ400, 20E is the name.

Group 21 is under writors discretion, ie standard car like a porsche 944 turbo 2.5 group 17 moved to group 21 as it had a 3.2l turbo convertion.

that was with 1years NCB and was initally £1000 but they then spiked it to £1400 when that 40% insurance increase came in, now back down to £857 at 19 with 2years NCB

tbh a pretty pointless thread.only answer is to phone brokers for a quote.

Every insurer has different groups. Elephant for instance go to group 25.

Its because a fiat coupe LE is a group 20 but so is a ferrari enzo...... So they made a few extra groupings to allow more loadings.

p.s unlikely you'll get insured. Cars of that grouping have loadings and minimum ages.

Thats a friends dads qoute for his new DB9 Aston Marton so for a 18 year old you have no chance in hell as metioned above "Eye watering"

Simple answer lots of wedge . Failing that start their own insurance company! :slayer:

for the likes of prem' players im sure if needed the clubs will help with a corporate policy or the like.
its good for the club for their players to look affluent and get in print(for the right reasons)

Even if i footballer wanted to drive a corsa, they still would be unlikely to get insured or it would be a high quote. This is due to the risks involved if its someone known or well known. I remember at Norwich Union we had someone come through for house insurance and he was 7th seed snooker player in the world... we refused to cover him.

I was always under the impression that car insurance went from group 1 - 20 but you then had 20A, 20B, etc for the real supercars. Are they still looking at changing to groups 1 - 50, this would be a much better idea.
