I'd never heard of this til a couple of weeks ago. It's a great peice of kit, only cost me £57 delivered (Far cheaper that OEM ipod adapters), gives you full ipod menus, 5 line LCD and keeps the ipod hidden away in the glovebox and always charged up.

I've got it installed in my Alfa (As my Fiat Bravo is now up for sale btw!) and managed to fit the screen to the windcreen and the controller screwed into the ashtray, so nothing's been damaged that won't be easy to replace if it's ever removed from the car.

I'm well impressed with it! So thought I'd spread the word!

cheers mate thats just what i have been looking for and wanting to here(y)

I've got one in my astra and its terrible.
If you use the built in aerial connection, it screws up radio reception.
The best system is the belkin charger kit that plugs into the 12v socket, and used the ipod itself for navigating. Also turns off when the car is off. Unlike the HK one.

Sorry, but I think it's fantastic! Havent used the FM transmitter, I use a proper line in connection, plus it boots itself up and down with the ignition, you can't have wired it to the switched 12v feed properly.

I prefer to leave the ipod hidden from view, rather than mount it in a big lairy ipod cradle that ruins the neatness of the interior.

The only way I can fault it is how it starts playing a track when you start the ignition, even if the stereo's playing the radio! The best answer would be to simply put a switch on the 12v switched feed.

I agree, out of intrest, how have you fitted it? is it bolted or sticky paded on?

i always reccomment this to customers over the Belkin and Dension kits, unless they want something hidden from view. IMO this way is much more stylish ;)

I stuck the display to the window, so there's no damage to the dash there. The cable slipped nicely down the gap with no problems. Then the controller I screwed to the front ashtray (bear in mind this is in an Alfa, not sure where you'd put it in a fiat) so the ashtray is all I'#d need to replace if I got rid if it in the future. So nowhere have I damaged the dash at all! The ipod lives in the glocebox, I drilled a hole just big enough for the round end of the plug to go through, so again, nothing looks damaged.

It is installed properly, I just think its a badly designed piece of kit.
In my many lines of employment I have been an Ice/Alarm installer so I think a little matter of installing an Ipod is something I am capable of.
:bang:

My mate wants one of these kits to install into his grand punto. Where is the best place to take the direct 12-V power feed from in a grande punto? Is it possible to feed the wires up behind or does the dash have to be removed?

admitedly never installed one of these kits, but i would assume that there is a wiring harness that goes between your radi oand the car loom, so 12v feeds are not a problem... like a say.. i presume...

There should be a switched 12v feed behind the stereo. I couldn't find one in my Alfa, so piggybacked the power feed to the fronbt ciggy lighter, as that only comes on with the ignition.

No, not an ISO plug. The car's ISO plug would be taken up by the stereo anyway wouldn't it? You get two options in the kit, a ciggy lighter plug cable or a cable to hard-wire it. These are just simple wires, you have to cut and join anything yourself.

gay...

surely it would have been much easier to make a loom that goes in between the standard wiring and the car wiring (male iso on one and and female iso on the other) like handsfree kits?

doing that defeats the object of the system though oxide. this system is designed to be compatible with ANY stereo, if its been wired into a standard stereo that doesnt use ISO you would have to change the stereo to use ISO cables if you understand me.
