Why did it ask for the code in the first place?
Unless it has changed for the 500 (which i doubt) the original stereo shouldnt need a code as it is paired with a one in the ECU.

Its not hard to remove the Radio you can get the necessary keys from Halfords. Im sure if you ask nicely and bung them a sneaky 5er on the side they will use their own keys and do it for you.

Then just make a small donation to help the upkeep of this forum and you should be sorted. If Davren can confirm that he can do these codes?

I have no idea why it needs the code all of a sudden, the car normally lives in Italy and I know it was having something done to reset it for a key or something (sorry for being so vague!) but I can ask the people who were looking after it for me if the battery died or anything.

I just can't see anywhere to remove the radio with any type of key! But to be fair I am quite useless when it comes to things like this!

Thats great though I am happy to donate to Halfords if they will comply and to this forum if it is something that can be done.

Thanks a million (y)

I hope we can help if you need to send me a Pic and i can mark where the holes are. If they are the same as every other Fiat. Sorry but i havnt had much contact with a 500, but should be the same.

Currently my Fiat 500 radio is saying radio blocked/wait, obviuosly as I stupidly tried to guess the code :( I have been told different things by dealerships as to how to retrieve my code

As volxstu says above, you shouldn't need the code.

The radio code for the new 500 is stored in the car's Body Computer so you don't need to enter it if the battery ever goes flat or is disconnected. You should only need the code if you are fitting a different radio into you car, or, you are fitting your radio into a different car.

The " Radio blocked/wait " message means that someone has entered the wrong code. To clear the message, you need to leave the radio and ignition switched on for up to 24 hours then enter the correct code. The length of time depends on how many times an incorrect code has been tried and should be displayed with the " Radio blocked/wait " message. Each time an incorrect code has been tried, the time increases as follows: 1 min, 2 min, 4 min, 8 min, 16 min, 30 min, 1h, 2h, 4h, 8h, 16h, 24h.

The diagram from the Fiat 500 Owner's Radio/CD Handbook doesn't show any holes to insert removal keys. If you, or "the people who were looking after it" can't find a way, you could ask in the 500 section of the forum here:

https://www.fiatforum.com/500/

Once you have the radio out, post all the numbers from the back and sides of it on this thread:

I'll let you know if I can get the code for you.

Thank you both so much. I found a forum on here which explains how to remove the radio so I shall give it a go.

I can't explain why it is asking for a code though, it definately is the same radio that it had when I bought it in 2007. The hand book we got with it (although written in French) does say something about a code card and to keep it safely etc...but we never received it.

Anyway thanks again, Hopefully I'll get some information and get back to you.

I know it was having something done to reset it for a key or something

If an ignition key was being replaced or coded, the codes in the Body Computer may have been corrupted during the process.

You can download an English version of the Owner's Handbook and/or the Radio/CD handbook from the forum downloads section here:

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

Thanks for donating to the forum.

The code for your RNS3 TravelPilot is: 8480

The code for your IDC A09 CD Changer is: 5363

hi thanks the head units working but the cd changer lights are flashing but the headunit says no magazine how do i enter the code for the cd changer ?

thanks tho the sound is quite gd on the radio :)

Instructions for entering the IDC-A09 code are in the user manual. It also explains how to decode it if changing it from one head unit to another.

I've never heard of an IDC-A09 being fitted with a RNS3. Were they working together in your car before?
