Does any one know where i can get hold of a volume control switch for my sub?

I hate having to go through all the functions on my HU just to turn down the bass.
It would be so much easier to just have the HU setting for the sub turned up to the max and just have a switch in-between the HU and amp so i can control how much bass gets through.

Can anyone help?

If you set up your gains you wouldnt have to, just set your gains up prperley and the if the bass is too much turn the gain down a little.

but that would mean getting out the car and going to the boot to open it.
some times i just want to turn the bass down for a while so i can hear and talk to other people.
ive got the gain set to where i wnat it but to turn the bass down while im driving i have to flick through the menu on my HU to turn it down.

just want an switch so i can decrease thye amount of bass getting to the amp.

Setting the gain to where you want it isnt setting the gains properly. The gain isnt a volume knob.

I cant see what difference a volume knob would make, surely just going to the EQ or sub pre-out level isnt that hard to do?

The only way of being able to remotley change the bass volume would be with an amp that has a remote bass level knob, theyre isnt really a way of making one.

An EQ is a good idea but installing it in the front of the car isnt easy to do. i know of a few people that have done this but finding a suitable place for all the wiring is a nightmare prolly the best place is in a false floor in the passenger footwell.

How about fitting a switch in the switching cable that runs from the HU to the amp? That way you can kill the bass altogether at the flick of a switch - cheap, and it'll be a piece of p*ss to fit :)

i was gunna say the signal wire,
if u jus wan on off function 4 the amp fit an inline switch u cud get a fused 1 espesh if u use a 12V source for the signal as there is no low current remote wire to the HU in my sei

Just out of interest, Iceman, how's your amp turn itself on/off if there's no remote switching cable? Does it sense the line-level inputs?

to be honest and totally ashamed of myself i hav no sub or amps in my car.
i only hav all the kit from my old car eg amp, sub, powerlines, rca leads. i do hav my pioneer mp3 playa in there an my tweets and am working on fitting the woofers from my focal components (which is turning out to b a pig of a job on the account of them being 6")

but i hav yet to sell my 15" sub, this is what is holding the process up so far as i need the money to get a 10" sub which my poor 899cc will just about b able to pull : ( so any1 wana buy a 15" kicker?? if only so i can move on in my ICE status

thanks for all your help. the idea of a switch on the would be the simplest.

but i wanted the function of using a switch like an external volume switch just for the bass.

thanks gaz_wrexham ill have a look in halfords for one after work 2nite.

ive got a JBL 2000 amp.

Dude! Go with the 15" sub in your Sei...if only for novelty value! [8D]

Wouldnt an amp remote be model specific? JBL GTO's dont have the remote capability.

What is seriousley wrong with setting the gains up properly, then if the bass is too much for general driving, just cut it in the EQ menu, if you want to whack it up just return it to the normal level.

If the amp's gains are set up correct and there is too much bass all the time, just turn the gain a bit lower.

899cc and lowering effect? Mines carrying 2 boxes slung over the arches, an amp and a 10" sub. Took it out and there's no difference...

Yu must be carrying tons (and i mean TONS) of stuff to give a noticible difference i'm thinking..:)

Oh, a 20st guy on the back seat plus 2 light people in the front = 100mm lowering at least...It was scraping on speedbumps at 10mph!!
