They are a bit tight.
Firstly, you need good release pins. For the blaupunkt head units they need to be nicely notched near the ends.
Push them in gently, until you hear/feel them click into place. If they are not far enough in they will not draw the holding tangs in far enough, if pushed too far, they jam things even tighter.
Once clicked into place, they need to be flexed outwards a little. This pushes inwards at the inner end, to bring the holding tangs in from the housing.
At this point, you now need to pull evenly, keeping the pressure outwards as well, while simultaneously swearing about the parentage of the designer. When it moves, try not to fall backwards.
As the unit comes out, the cables may not wish to follow easily. They pass downwards from the back of the unit, and are reluctant to come upwards, so pull and wiggle gently. The cables will allow the unit to come out just far enough to access the plugs, if you have tiny fingers with seven joints on each. More swearing is likely. Try not to allow the cables to disappear back in, fishing them out brings more tears.
Meanwhile, don't lose or break the little covers from the release holes. They are not too easy to obtain, only come as a set of four, and not cheap. If you've put them on the floor, try not to tread on them.
Do it now, before the weather gets too hot. Good luck.
