I want to install a powered underseat Subwoofer under the passenger seat of my 1997 Cinquecento Sporting.

I have a Pioneer DEH-4200SD Headunit which has RCA red/white connections in the back of it.

Do I just plug a powered sub into the RCA ports and thats it ? or do I need to connect the Sub to the cars battery as well so it can get power ?

I'm think of something like this Kenwood Sub as in the link below ( Any other suggestions welcome, preferably cheaper ones ! lol ! )

They will need power like any other amp. I couldnt tell you whats good and whats not as i have never been a fan of them. A small jbl sub in the boot would be night and day better.

I've no experience of subs before as I've always had enough bass for my needs with my previous cars normal 2 way or 3 way speakers.

I guess its because the Cinquecento front speakers are only 10cm and they lack a bit of bass ?

This is probably a bit of a thick question but I thought that if the Sub was under the seat nearer me that the bass would be nearer me and sound better ?

If I went for the boot option how would I wire it up ( powered sub ) to my Pioneer head unit. Do I need to wire it to the battery ? and then to the RCA ports ? I've also read about wiring to the remote lead on the head unit so it doesn't drain battery when the ignition is off ?

Any amp will need a +, Ground, RCA and remote (remote tells the amp to power up with Head unit) Weather that be a sub/ amp combo or Active unit. An active sub is just an amp built into the same unit as the sub. The only difference is that you dont have to run wires from the sub to the amp as that is already done.

The power in those active units will be about 50w RMS at best which is nothing even if its placed under the seats to 300w RMS or so of a cheap JBL Set up.
