Hi all

I have fitted a Kenwood DNX5220BT to my 55 plate Croma. I am having issues getting power to the unit.

There appears to be a standard ISO wiring block currently going to a Blaupunkt head unit. There are four wires in what I would describe as the power side as follows the top row of pins are numbered 1 & 2:
pin 1 = pink/black (this is thin cable compared to others)
pin 3 = Pink/white (normal size)
pin 4 = Pink/Black (fat cable)
pin 8 = Black (fat cable)
all others are unused

The Kenwood Unit iso block as the following:
pin 4 = yellow - battery
pin 5 = blue/white - power control
pin 6 = orange/white - dimmer
pin 7 = red - ignition
pin 8 = black -earth (ground connection)

any know what should go where as currently i only get the security (is) light flashing in the top left corner and the unit wont switch on.

Ta...

I had this issue with my kenwood. The car your fitting it into has no switched power wire but the Hu does.

The only fix I found was to join the switched power wire and the constant power wire together. This means the stereo is always on you until you either manually turn the HU off or take the facia out.

If you need a switched live there should be plenty available (basically anything that only works with the ignition on.) You should be able to find one to link to with a test lamp or multimeter.

Well got it working by doubling up the battery connector (pin 4) with switched into the HU.
pin 1 = pink/black (this is thin cable compared to others) 0.5 volt
pin 3 = Pink/white (normal size) 12 volt constant
pin 4 = Pink/Black (fat cable) 12v constant (battery)
pin 8 = Black (fat cable) earth

Interesting results when switched connected to pin 3 it worked untill i opened the driver door and the HU shut down. not sure what pin 1 is for.

I tested the other multicoloured block with my multimeter and could find nothing at all... As for finding another source the ignition key and cig lighter are between the front seats and have yet to figure out how to take the cowling apart to get at them...
