Hi all, does anyone know the Power ouput of each standard speaker in a 1.2 Active? Or at least front and rear. And I believe its a 4+2 setup. In the manual it says:
"Radio with CD player, steering wheel mounted radio controls with 6 keys, 40 W Hi-Fi system, 4 speakers + 2 tweeters (water resistant technology)"
Does this mean 40W for everything? And how much power would be left with a headunit that has a power output of 4x50W? Would it just be 200W minus 40W?

Thanks.

20W RMS? So thats 120W in total? If its 6 speakers.

Yer , they are crap :) Replace them as soon as possible! and stick a screwdriver through the 20pence standard speakers as they offend me haha!

a little off topic, but i changed my speakers a few months ago. My crossover was ratteling so i took my doorcard off and took my speaker out to be curious...and the back of the speaker had started to rust and there was a stagnent water smell!!? At the bottom of the door there are 3 holes which i presume are drain holes, but is there any way to stop water getting into the door?

Check the rubber at the bottom of the window/door, this reduces the amount of water that comes in down the window. Does it run the entire length of the window? is there any gaps? ect

The drain holes are there because water does come in, the only way to prevent it completely would be to silicone the windows in, only, the windows wouldn't go down.

I'd take a close look at the seals. but if they seem oky then just clean the speaker and put it back in, then buy a peg for your nose (y)

Ste..

Thanks for the replies. Its just that I can get this kenwood headunit from a friend cheap:

http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/cd_receivers/KDC-W3037A/details/

And I think it is 4x30W RMS as it says:
Maximum Power: 50W x 4
Output Power (DIN45324,+B=14.4v): 30W x 4
So if I am reading this right my current speakers are 4x20W (4x12W RMS) which means I have some spare power. Pretty much I would like a little bass from the system like pickup a cheap 100-150W sub off ebay for less than £20... would this work?

I'm not sure how wiring works Ive heard people using rear speaker cables to wire the sub... but I have no idea what you are doing to the sound by doing this.

Any ideas to get some bass?

Thanks.

So can I buy them without buying the HU too? Is the amp worth it for such a low end system?

Nope it doesnt that is why i said that you will need a new unit. Preouts ore the RCA cables that take the signal from the HU to the Amp, just like a playstation or DVD player to a TV, just without the yellow wire (visual)

ah ok just to clarify that kenwood is not my HU that is the one I can buy and you say it doesnt have preouts so its not worth getting?
