Hi there. Have recently purchased a 56 Grande Punto and am looking to put an Alpine cd player in, when i purchased the car, a different (pants) unit was already in.

I think i'm right in saying that this means the Fiat wiring would have needed to be changed to accomodate modern head units. Anyway I was wondering if anyone knows where i can get a Grande Punto stereo wiring diagram so i can rewire the alpine ISO lead into the re-wired block.

At the moment i do not know what each cable is for so it is proving tricky to re-wire it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wiring should have been changed via a ISO block and then had the red wire joined to the yellow to give the HU power. a different ISO block will probably be needed so that you have the alpine connector on the back of it.

I think I may need a new ISO cable. The problem is, I recently bought one of Ebay which said that it would fit an Alpine cde-9850RI but unfortunately the connector was different. Don't know if you would know differences in the cable ends?

Also I would like the steering controls to work, I know that this is to do with the ISO connection again but does it all come in 1 if you want the steering controls?

As in you can buy the ISO cable standard or you can buy one with the steering control part attached.

For steering wheel controls you will need a different set of wiring and for your headunit to be compatible with steering wheel controls.

Can you post a picture up of the connection on your headunit?

I don't currently have a picture of it unfortunately Matt, a googlle image search proved pointless also.

The cable i told you about is to big for the Alpine unit that i currently have.

Have you got any car audio shops near you that you can pop into? One of those might have a spare ISO lead for your headunit.

Yes I recently went into ICE Direct in Peterborough but they said that they couldn't get any in before xmas, Halfords were trying to charge me over £30 for one!

You could drop an email to the car audio website i linked you to for the steering wheel controls and see if they can sort you one out?

I only read the thread quickly but are you missing the alpine wiring loom (as in there are no wires at the back of the unit)
