The MJET 130 Sporting is actually based on an older 8V block and therefore less flexible that the newer 16V block fitted to the MJET 90. While there is no doubt the 130 has considerably more shove in the mid range my experience of the two engines is that the 130 suffers more turbo lag and is less refined at tickover and in lower gears sounds a bit more 'agricultural'. At motorway speeds you'd be hard pressed to notice though.
The big plus on the Sporting is that it looks a damn sight more desirable, the wheels fill the arches much better and has all the spoilers fitted as standard.
