Well lads recently got my self a 2008 t jet punto. When I got her first she the boost came on nice and strong and was great. Last week I got myself a ram air filter for it and it’s sounds great but I think it’s not boosting as hard and others had said the same. So has anyone else experienced this? Could the cone filter be affecting the boost. I was thinking that I do a very short drive to work every day less than 3 miles, So maybe has the car remapped it’s self because of the short journeys? Any help would be great. Ronan

It’s pretty well known that cone filters can loose low down power. Put the car back to stock. Fiddling with the air intake system can lead to the opposite of what your trying to achieve.

Thank jimboy, I’m gonna throw the standard airbox on it tomorrow and see. Your right the power lose is low down. I wasn’t trying to go for more power it was just the sound I was looking for. Strange though you’d think the turbo would get a bit more air flow with the cone, I dunno I’m new to the whole turbo thing. Thanks il let you know how I get on. [emoji106]

Believe it or not the engineers do know what they are doing when they design the stock air box and air intake it offer's more then enough airflow for well beyond stock power especially if turbo engines that such the air in by force
You'd have too so serious work to the engine before needing to touch it such as larger forged pistons and bigger turbos

Thanks, yeah look il keep the filter for now, a bigger turbo and a tune will be something il do down the line. Il return it to stock today.

You could replace the stock filter box etc and then try a K+N panel filter....thats what I have done on my Vectra 2 litre turbo. She's Running around 220 after a BSR remap.

So I’ve replaced the stock box and reset the ecu via disconnecting the battery for a hour whilst I was fitting a sub woofer in it. And the power is back. It only came back after the ecu reset as if felt the same with the stock box on it this morning. So is the car remapping it self to my driving or did the stock box and reset do the job? Will this be something il have to do every couple of weeks? Thank.
