I've been through 3 driveshafts in 2 months first one popped out as i come off a speed bump I got recovered and replaced it. The first replacement created a wobble on acceleration so changed it and now this latest one is doing the same. Its so annoying as im trying to get the car up to around 180bhp waiting to fit the airtec fmic i have and sourcing a vl36 and then a remap, car has a powerflow cat back and K&N induction kit at the moment but not wanting to put any more power into it until i have got to the bottom of this problem. Not sure if the car has been lowered so next step is replace all springs with standard and try a new shaft which i ve ordered from J&R which i believe only sell new shafts think the previous ones may have been reconditioned an was double the price any help or ideas would be appreciated thanks Lee.

Have you considered the wheel bearings may be on the way out?..It the wheel its ok?..not damaged etc.
Whats the rest of the steering mechanicals like?..

I have been in the same boat, not popped a shaft out but had the wobble as you describe. I replaced the intermediate and complete drive shaft on drivers side, genuine parts too. No change, then i replaced passenger spider joint and cup, again genuine parts, better but not great. I then purchased a second shaft off a mito tjet 5 speed and is a lot better but still has slight wobble, i know its not flywheel or clutch as this has been replaced when i rebuilt the gearbox, and wheels are new abarth with new tyres, i find on some roads it feels worse than others

I still choose to get mine mapped with the VL36 and running 178hp and the wobble seems no different, i have also replaced all worn engine mounts now out of ideas, was thinking of trying new lower arms incase bushes have gone soft. Also i tried J&R first, found my driveshaft seal leaked, put original shaft in and leak stopped, there was hardly any grease in the joints and they accepted my return

No play in bearings or noise from them, im going to try rear wheels on the front see if that helps. i didnt mention that once i fitted the new driveshafts the wobble/vibration went completely but was soon back in a few weeks and not very many miles, really pissing me off as im interested to see how well it goes with around 170-180 bhp. Plus the uncertainty of going out on every drive not knowing if you're coming home in a AA truck is a joke. Bought the car in mid November and used daily it was fine until mid March when it first went, then since march this is the third time. The first time it went there was no warning noises/vibration literally just went pop as i went over a speed bump.

I put the second hand shaft in mine, was good for 1 week, then slowly come back, but not as bad as before, sounds like we have the same issue

yes hopefully we get to the bottom of it. whats your car like with the additional bhp is it much quicker?

Yes you can feel it pulls alot harder and does not die off as much near redline with the VL36, im still running standard exhaust and cooler, just vl36 and k&n 57s airbox

Still averaging 32mpg down the lanes to work too
Was thinking of getting black airtec with orange logo for the cool factor

Well new springs fitted and new driveshaft on, car feels nice and smooth and no wobble fingers crossed it stays that way. Ride height is much higher but worth it if it solves the problem.

What side shaft was changed? If drivers was the intermediate section changed too?

Not done much with mine at the moment as its only slight, trying to source another shaft

Mines fine now but not done a lot of miles only time will tell. Are you sure yours hasn’t been lowered at all?

Yeah mine done it with standard springs, now running eibach pro and has made no difference

Did you lads have any luck sorting out your driveshaft issue? Mine is wobbling/vibrating under a acceleration. Standard power I think but it does pull very well. If you did sort it where did you buy your shafts from?
Thanks

Question 1:

Is the car lowered?

Grandes were built TALL.. they eat components when lowered

You need a non.standard shaft build if its lowered :)

Cheers for the reply.

It’s on standard GP suspension as far as I can tell. 17’’ fiat alloys. It does look a little bit low but i think that’s the t jet sporting suspension?

I did drive it today and found it does the vibration/wobble on the motorway and doesn’t seem too on normal roads so I think/hope it’s the wheels out of balance.

I did also find out that the side wall has a tiny split in it causing it to loose air if I park on the split which opens it up enough to let air out lol. I’ll have that done/wheel balancing all 4 and tracking because it’s slightly out and see how it goes. Thanks again :)

Hello,
Have you guys ever found the fix for the wobbling problem?
