Okay so I've bought myself a bit of a project, got an 06 Grande that needs a little bit of work done to it but also I want to make some cosmetic and mechanical adjustments......

The issue is, I've never done it before and will heavily rely on youtube and other tutorials online.

Does anyone have any WIP puntos or finished projects for inspiration, also, where would be best to start with making the engine and performance better?

No worries but I'm afraid you can't expect to get much out of the 1.2 8V engine, unless you do DEEP modifications …

Make the car nice looking and clean and try to sell it with a little profit, then go buy a 14 and do the same; finally you'd end-up with a nice 14 Tjet or a 1.9 JTD that you can get a lot power off (with some costs…)
