Hi,

I have a 2006 1.3MJ Grande Punto. It has always took a while to start. It turns over, but can take up to 10 seconds to run.

As its getting colder, it will just keep turning and cut out. I have had the battery and spark plugs replaced.

Any ideas on what else this could be?

Lets start with the easiest things:
-are you using winter diesel?
-are there any errors?

More then glowplugs and battery are involved in the pre-heat sequence:

- air temp (in the MAF ?)
- engine coolant temp
- pre-heat control box

One need to FES the car to check for information consistency, eg, if the ECU things external temp is higher then it actually is, the preheat time might be too short ...

BRs, Bernie
