Hey all, proud owner of a 1.9 Multijet, bought it as a cheap runaround whilst I work on my other car.

Anyways, the car has 120k miles on the clock and is pretty good condition.

Its my first diesel, and the first thing I have noticed is if the car has been left to cool for a few hours I'll go to start it and it'll crank over 3 or 4 times before starting with a poof of white smoke.

Once cars warm it'll start fine multiple times.

Performance is great, can feel the turbo work well.

I have receipts for an EGR valve fitted 82k miles and Glow plugs around 6 years ago.

Battery is possibly original and i have it booked for a free check on Tuesday.

Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience?

Cheers

I have the same problem, my mileage is about the same. Justa changed the EGR Valve and someone sugested glow pugs connections. At my Bravo I find impossible to change any glow plug myself without taking out quite a few parts that are blockimg the access to them...

I'll let you know how my battery check works out. Bad battery seems like the logical issue but who knows???

I'd probably wager it being the battery if it is indeed the original one.

I too had similar starting issues on my 1.9, would be fine once running but really struggled to start sometimes.. Especially when the ambient temperature was cooler. I changed to a new battery which sorted it the issue out straight away.

Sorry for the obvious question but are you waiting between turning the ignition on and cranking the car? Diesel glow plugs work much better if you give them a few seconds to warm up
