Hi All
I have Purchased a nice Grande Punto 1.2 (07 Plate) With 41k on the clock. I have noticed in the last few days issues starting the car in the cold. When starting the car, I get a loud screech when turning the key. Once this happens I cannot turn the key any further. This may happen once or twice then the car starts fine.

I read on here that it may be a battery issue so I have had this replaced and had the same issue. I have ordered a new started motor and hopefully will replace this at the weekend.

Does anyone have any more ideas on what it could be? I did read about a ECU update but not sure how I can go about this or who to go to? I really don’t want to spend a lot of money due the cost of the car was not a lot.

Hi,
Fault described sounds like starter not engaging. Changing the starter should sort it out. There is a chance that the ring gear on the flywheel is damaged but hopefully not.

Hi,did you sort your problem,mine is doing the same,1.2cc, 07 8v.Just wondering if the fly wheel is solid type,or the Cush drive type.
