Question Installing new seats with lombar adjustment

Hello everyone, I'm trying new seats with lombar adjustment, and my car does not has this feature previusly, so I want to adapt the system to make it work.

My question is, does lombar adjustment is managed with CAN BUS commands to enable it? or is analog system?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Installing new seats with lombar adjustment

Hi,

the lomlbar adjust is analog, it uses a inverter relay in the boot module...

Hi, Thanks for your reply!
What are you meaning with "inverter relay"? Is it a relay with two positions?
Another question is where is the electronic diagram? I mean, I have "elearn" and I have readen what you have sent me, but I'm afraid to do bad connections and then blow up the AirBag. It is a bit confusing, so I want to know what pins are required to make seat move.

Thank you!

Re: Installing new seats with lombar adjustment

Hi, shouldn't have written inverter relay but inverter switch (I067 on the drawing), so you need the switch under the arm rest, a lombar adjustable seat, positive (fused) and ground... Pins 7 & 8 at the seat coupler are the lombar motor connections other # you can find on the attached diagram.

So pins 7 and 8 are for moving forward or backwards, and others two are for powering motor, right? Thanks!

Re: Installing new seats with lombar adjustment

D070 is the seat connector, so pins 7 & 8 are for the lombar adjustment, they are connected to the inverter switch located under the arm rest... At least that's how I read the drawing ... Anyone ??

But my question is for what are pins 9 and 10? I need to connect them to battery or they are not needed for lumbar system? Because eLearn says that one of them is for dashboard ground (negative) and other is for Luggage Compartment Junction Unit (I don't know what it is, I think is Positive) and I don't get it, I want to be sure about that, avoiding damaging my seat :S

I have attached a photo of seat connector Pinout.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Installing new seats with lombar adjustment

Pins 7 & 8 of the seat connector are connected directly to pins 3 & 4 of the control switch.

The control switch is fed by positive from the trunk diverting box (Luggage compartment junction unit) thru a relay and a dedicated fuse and in negative from the dashboard grounding (C015). The trunk box relay is ignition (key on) operated and de-activated when cranking, as a lot of other electrical devices on the car such as the radio...

Depending the switch position (center is neutral) the lumbar adjustment motor will receive + and - in one way or the other, so going backward or forward.
The other pins on the connector are for airbag sensor and airbag itself (if seat equiped with). Regarding the extra one connecting to the trunk box I have no clue, but it's more likely feeding + to ??

One need to digg in the eLearn to find out...

So to make it short: you can power and ground the control switch directly from positive (fused) and earth and connect directly to pins 7 & 8 on the seat connector without disturrbing any body ECU.
I doubt you'd play with the lumbar adjustment while cranking... (but who knows ;-)

Regards, Bernie

Yes!! Thank you! Now I understand you perfectly! And yes, 9 and 10 are for heater seats (were are provided) and the car where I got those seats did not have any buttons for heater, that they must be at same place than lumbar buttons, so I dont know if this seat has also heater, but not buttons to enable it (in that case, I have to install buttons) or just dummy cables on seat (that I dont think that Fiat added dummy wires just for fun). I will try to check it and then I will answer here hehehe

Thank you again for you really heplful help man 😁

Regards,
Julio
