Hello like-minded mechanics,

I am interested in your previous/current experience with the FIAT GP. I currently own a 1.4 Litre 8v Active Sport at 66009 miles and have had a few problems since buying it. Thanks to the recalls and general problems sticky thread (which can be found here) most of these problems were diagnosed and fixed.

However, I would like to know if you have any suggestions as to any parts which should be changed for better quality parts or replaced with originalparts to improve longevity, prevent any problems from happening and/or increase the pleasure of driving the FIAT GP.

I have a few examples of content which I'm after which should give you and idea as to what I would like from you. I feel stuff like this could be useful for new owners like me who are looking to improve their experience with the FIAT GP be it safety, durability and enjoyability. Please find the examples below:

Upgrading the front windscreen washer jets
Replacing the MAP sensor with a genuine BOSCH one
Alfa Romeo scuttle drain pipe
Breather hose replacement to prevent foul smells
Basically upgrading s**t parts

Being a novice mechanic I cannot recognise these poor quality parts and thus cannot diagnose what replacements may improve the FIAT GP for the long-haul, and that's why I wanted your opinion on what can/should be modified to improve pleasure/reliability.

Obviously these small but mighty mods do not effect performance (much) but do improve the driving experience. All in all, I'm trying to find the secrets of having a reliable FIAT GP with no cheap and nasty parts.

I look forward to your replies,

In addition to what you have already, would either of these be worth adding?

* Sealing the wiper motor access hatch and addressing any corrosion around the brake servo mounting plate - basically what's described in the guide Fix for water in footwell/Rust at brake servo.

* Giving the sump an additional coat of paint (stone chip and heat resistant) to prevent it corroding.
