Hi all,

I have been using my 1.3mjd for a few months without any issues and had been very happy with the car untill yesterday.

Was driving for about 250 kms and was cruising at around 80-90 kmh. Suddenly the car started acting weird, engine revved to the maximum 7k rpm with the foot off the accelerator pedal. I turned off the ignition and pulled to the side. The car was stuck in the 3rd gear ever since. When turned on the ignition for the first time after the incident, errors relating to the power steering and the red steering icon was lit on the dash board. Turned it off and on again and the steering error was gone and the check transmission error was displayed. The car cannot be cranked at the moment as it's stuck in a gear. Now the gear indicator is blinking in displaying 'N'

Below error codes were displayed when scanned. Even after clearing the they would reappear after a few minutes.

Any help to resolve the above is greatly appreciated.. Thanks.

PS- I happened to run over a water puddle containing a considerable amount of water about 5-10 minutes before this incident and my left fender under guard is not there. Could it have been caused due to water damage?

Forgot to attach the errors after a scan.

The car would normally still start even if the dualogic system is stuck in gear, just with the usual "not in neutral" warning bleeps. If it is damp (see my dualogic threads for my suspected problems with damp) starting the engine and letting it warm-up may help dry things out.

Just a puddle, or a flooded pot hole that's given the steering a jolt?

Thanks for the response, yes more like the latter.

Update:

After a through checking, we were able to find a possible short circuit due to dirt and particles which were clogged up under both tail lights, the mechanic gave them a good clean, and it fixed a warning the about the signal lights, which apparently had been caused due to the short circuit without the bulb being burnt. Cleaned the rear earth too and almost all sockets with contact cleaner under the bonnet.

Jumped with another battery as mine was dying.. voila, everything started working as usual. Test ride was also a success so I headed back home.

The happiness lasted only a few minutes.

The Check transmission warning started appearing frequently. The gears refused to change automatically and had to be switched manually. It would only go up utill the 3rd, 4th would throw a "Gear unavailable" warning.

I had no option but to snail back home by changing manually.Until.. the car healed itself after about 90 Kms of driving and has been good ever since except for the "Check transmission warning which comes up every time I depress the brake pedal.

I have spen almost a day trying to diagnose the issue with another mech, the scan would throw a P1760 "brake switch" error every time when the brake is depressed and it would trigger the "check Transmission" warning on the dash. tried changing the switch couple of times but still the same.

It would also show P1215 - Driver's door (from CAN), when the door is opened however the pump also responds to the door as usual.

Any help is much appreciated in diagnosing the brake switch error, its driving me mad!:bang:

Thanks in advance.

Yes, they are of correct wattage. Error would still appear even without any lights attached at all.

Update

After parking the car for two days in the burning sun, the brake light issue seemed to have gone away. No more check transmission warning when the brake is depressed. Didn't yet have time to get a scanning done. I assume it could have been water which could've caused all his havoc after all. Will post if there are any further updates.

No I did not as it looked healthy. But I'm thinking it might be the cause for all this stupid warnings.

The brake issue ( check transmission)still appears when I first start the car and goes away after about 30 minutes. Yesterday glow plug waning also came while the engine was running and it was properly warmed up. It hasn't come today though, no starting issues either.
