Getting my Key copied.

Hi all.
When i bought my GP, it only came with a single key which didn't bother me at the time, but since i locked it in the boot the other day and had to break into my own car, i decided to see how much it was to get it copied.

Timpsons quoted me '250 and upward' Without sounding like a tight-arse, i shan't be paying that for a spare key.
Is there any company that can copy just the blade so that if i do lose the remote key, it doesn't render my car worthless?
Or better yet a company that dosen't want 1/6th the price of the car for a key?

Any advice would be great

I would have a look on eBay for a good second hand key and get a replacement blade cut and then code it to your car

Many locksmiths can do the job for a non remote key but it has to have the key barrel cut and then the internal chip in the key has to be programmed to the car. I got a guy in Glasgow to do mine for 50......CJS locksmiths. They can do it all without the car but they need the car to check that it all works and figure out what actual chip id the key has in it. Google car locksmiths in your area and give them a call to see if they can clone your key.
