Ah, did you fit a new one? I've literally just finished cleaning it out with Mr Muscle, local garage and old mate told me to soak it a few times and watch the white foam turn black... and black it turned! Amazing how much gunk/oil is trapped actually underneath the sensor which you can't get to... fingers crossed it starts first time tomorrow!

i fitted a new one as one morning i cleaned it before trying to start it and it didnt work. since the new one it revs up to about 2k initially. was £12.75 off ebay for a pattern one. maybe a bosch one would be a wise investment, now i know thats what it was. seems to be ok so far though. cheap fix.

Nope, cleaning it out hasn't made any difference... screwed over ain't the word.

Might have a look at spark plugs today, could be residue on the electrode that's being burned off after I fire it up a few times?

buy a new map sensor, cleaning mine only worked for one day, so i put it down to an intermittent problem with the sensor, all ok since the new one fitted.

Air filter looks brand new just about, haven't checked oil filter yet. And I've been waiting to get the money for one... here's hoping it is the problem.

Unemployed student mate. Don't have that much cash left over by the end of the month never mind something going wrong with the car yoo5

Only £17.99 + 20% VAT?! Wow! Same OEM number and everything! Been looking around and found the same OEM parts at £75+ and then 20% VAT on top of that! Thanks mate! Get one ordered on Monday! Only thing that worries me is it isn't of Bosch make? Also (see attached photo, is the 06-06-01marking on the current sensor the date of manufacture? Little old for a 56 plates software etc?

Ordered the new part there, should arrive on or before Wednesday, will update if this makes a difference... Thanks for the help guys!

What's the blue insulation for? Thinking it is connected to another sensor right next to the MAP looking at it... got a split on it, probably not helping the matter any. Just need to know what it's purpose is and what it is connected to so I can replace it

Ordered the £12.75 Inc delivery yesterday around 3pm and that's me got it! Talk about 1st Class! All happy to go sort this out... to find out the head on the screw on the current MAP sensor is completely fecked! I now have the part but no way of taking the old one out! Too awkward to get a drill in and drill the centre out too! **** sake.

Also, is there much point in sticking a brand new sensor in when there is still a problem with the oil gathering at the sensor bay?
