Hi people.

Please enlighten me!

I have been searching for some part online, to a Fiat Grande Punto, and are confuesed about Engine Code and OEM Codes, do some of you know what the difference is?

I have this information on my car:
Type: FIAT PUNTO 1,3 JTD
Horse power: 75 HP (55 kW)
Volume CM3: 1248
Motor Code: 199.A2.000
Fuel type: Diesel

The problem is that some webshops refers to a OEM Code.. What is that, are they fitting in to the Motorcode in some way?

All clues is greatly apriciated, as i have ordered one Diesel filter to my car, and got the wrong one.. Now I would like to have some knowledge to it before I order the next.

All the best

Bjørn Harald

Your engine code will be 199.A2.000 (199 is a Fiat code for the Grande Punto and A2.000 for the type of engine).

I've never heard the phrase "OEM Codes". Perhaps it means the Fiat part number of the part.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer. Spare parts suppliers use it to indicate that the parts they are selling are made by the same company that supplies parts to Fiat. Some suppliers say "OEM quality", which means their parts are not actually supplied to Fiat but they claim they are of the same quality as parts supplied to Fiat.

Thanks Davren, I do think you are absolutly right, that the OEM must stand for Original Equipment Manufactur code - meaning the original service part number.

Do you know if there is a site where I could get information about the OEM codes for my Fiat Grande punto, or do I have to contact Fiat?

All the best

Fiat part numbers for spare parts are available from the Fiat parts calalogue known, as ePER. There is a forum copy of it on the blue bar at the top of this page, but this forum copy only goes up to 2004/2005, so doesn't include the GP.

Sorry... I don't know of any reliable online copies. I have a 2011 copy on my computer. Providing it's not too many numbers you need, I can look them up for you. To get accurate numbers, I would need the 17 character/digit VIN (serial/chassis number) of your car. It will start with ZFA199

Post the description of the parts you want numbers for here, but send the VIN to me by PM (Private Message).

According to ePER, the Fiat part number of the diesel filter for your VIN is 77363804. Fiat price for it at May 2011 was 566DKK + tax..

I think the equivalent Purflux part number for this filter is FCS723.

There are also several other manufacturer's part numbers and prices for it in this link: http://autopartsmarket.dk/?code=77363804&action=catalog_price_view

You are werry well informed Davren :)

The refering numbers fits perfectly into all of your information.

It is a great trick to have the Fiat Part number, it makes online shopping a bitt easyer.

I have ordered the filter and some other stuff.. Hoping to get them to morrow, and then I will document how to swap this one..

And hope fully this is the problem ;)

All the best!
