which cylinders do you drop the rods in Danny and do you align them on the descent or assent? (might as well add it to my guide in case someone has a snapped belt and needs to reference the piston strokes as you get a 2 turns of the crank shaft to one of the cam )

The rods go in cyls 1 & 2 (counting from cambelt-end), and the pistons are in the correct place when level with number 1 piston travelling down. If you're doing it with everything still in place, you'll normally tell when it's right because the compression will first spit the rod out of cyl 2, then cyl 1... usually into your face if you're leaning over the engine.

He charged me £145, for timing belt, Camshaft Oil Seal, Crankshaft Oil Seal, and the second Cam Shaft blanking cover O ring.
Parts cost £65, labour was £80.00.

He's a local one man band operating out of his own garage at home.
He comes highly recommended by loads of people in our village.

I'm quite pleased with that.

What would concern me is how the timing managed to slip in the first place- either the tensioner wasn't tightened sufficiently and/or debris got between the belt and cam/crank pulleys. Either way I'd want the covers removed to check the problem isn't going to strike again with potentially greater consequences (being an interference engine).
