Hi All,

For months and months there has been a creaking/knocking noise, from both sides of the rear of the car, that has gradually got worse and now exists even over small bumps that are barely visible.

Yesterday someone put their ear to the suspension whilst I rocked the car. They said the noise sounds like its coming from the shocks and not the spring.

Last year I replaced my standard springs Abarth essesse springs - not sure if this could have caused any problems?

Ultimately though, if this is a shock problem, is it possible keep driving on them until after June when I will be investing in some coilovers?

Thanks in advance!

Sam

My mate had coilies put on his car a few weeks ago and he discovered that he'd been driving around on 4 springs - all the shocks were gone and he didn't even notice. Kwik-fit do a FREE shocks check which wouldn't do any harm.

If I was in your position I'd live with it for a few more weeks til you get coilovers - or use it as an excuse to get coilovers now (y)

Well your springs will be under a bit more force when going over bumps and the back of the car will recoil more - but the fact that they're Abarth springs so are stiffer (so less recoil) will be in your favour. As long as you don't hammer it round bends, I can't foresee any secondary damage. If it was the fronts I'd be a bit more worried but you will be OK

What coilies you going for?
