So I've had my GP almost 2 weeks now and I am enjoying it, no mods to it yet but some smaller ones planned.

Just something I have noticed when driving around sometimes I can be stopping at lights or coming towards slow moving traffic and have to change down to first gear and it feels very very stiff to put into gear, I know I am a new driver and experience could be the only factor but if that was the case it would happen all the time ? Sometimes I can do it and it goes in smoothly without problem, just wondering if it could be anything serious or a simple fix or not even a problem at all.

Its a 2008 1.4 5dr Active.

What speeds are you doing when trying to change into 1st?

Generally 1st is really only meant to be used when stationary or under 10mph i would of said.

I believe the Grande Puntos have a syncromesh for first gear.

In leymans terms it stops you from putting the car into first if you're still moving above 10mph. Like Lal B3N says, 1st gear is for pulling off only.

I've driven Golfs that have the same so don't worry, it's not a problem. If you're slowing down in to traffic just stay in second (obv pressing clutch so you don't stall) until you stop, then change to 1st. If you don't stop, just stay in 2nd and pull off. ;)
