General Are Grande Puntos becoming the new Puntos?

It was bound to happen the 2nd hand prices are dropping

Looking back a few years to getting my first car. lots of mums and dads (who will no doubt hold the purse stings) will favour their son or daughter getting a GP over many other older super minis purely due to the Safety afforded by the modern design over some old banger...

well am 17 i started with a 2006 1.9 jtd grande punto multijet sporting in orange bought it for £2,500 it had been remmaped to 174bhp when i had bought it when i went to insure it couldnt afford it so i changed for a 2006 1.2 grande punto active which am doing euro style with all mods covered its costing £1,400 to insure :slayer:

When i started driving my First car ( i drove my Mums fiesta for a couple of years till i finished college and dropped out of uni (And no she wasn't fronting for me as i can see the college from my front door ;) ) and got a job i bought a brand new 1.3KA cost me £400 to insure Fully comp with my dad as a named driver People laugh at them but they easily outstrip the 1.2 and 1.4 8V GP's from a standing start been so light...

lol knew the old saxo debate would get heated :D

i have crashed in the saxo and it wasn't nice but only cost me £500 to repair the whole right hands side inc respray. The people hear slating the saxo should drive one first. lift off over steer is addictive as soo much fun.

and in answer to one of the above question's about my age and cars (and bikes) is that i dont go to uni and have a job and live at home. saxo isn't insured abarth is 1.8k a year comp with 0 ncb and been driving 10 months. my last bike did 0-60 in under 3s and cost £400 a year comp

On the intarbutz, I think this is what they call 'Fail'.

I think it has already begun. Look at how many recent threads say things like 'I lowered my car and the driveshaft popped out' or 'what colour should I paint my wheels'

Lowering a car isnt necessarily chavvy and neither is changing the colour of wheels.

It's

1. Angel Eyes
2. Stupid MASSIVE stickers
3. Generic Halfrauds Alloys
4. Halfrauds 'Sport' badge
5. H.I.D's (yes they do blind people and look silly on older cars)
6. Limo tints (doubt everyone will agree)
7. D.R.L Strips
8. Neons

oh and 9. Those f**king 'Powered by Fairydust' sh*t!

I don't see how changing the colour of your alloys makes you 'chavvy'? Lots of expensive cars can come with their alloys in a variety of colours? Granted, you do see some ****ters driving around with stupid colour alloys but you can't call everyone a chav who does it. I had a orange M-jet with black wheels before this and im far from a chav!

Feck paying over £1000 to driver on these **** roads. I have only been driving nearly 3 years and I have never paid over £1000. I would rather walk or take my pedal bike.

if a cheap quote is £1900 then your willing to pay too much, the most ive eer paid on insurance is what i paid last year £1500 a year for the GP with all the mods and unlimited milage, this year was £1300

Im 22, been driving 2 years, accident my fault (cost 2500) 0 ncb. GP Mjet.....227 a month lol however I was paying 207 on a 1.25 fiesta so id rather pay a lil extra for something i want rather than getting shafted a a small engined car.
