My old standard pads only used to squeek at the start of a journey, but these greenstuff pads squeek even after a 40 mile spirited drive though country lanes. The brakes where definatly up to temperature by the end of that i can tell you.

yes they have, putting copper on them probably has fecked them up.

brake squeal is mostly caused by dust, i wonder how well peter7889 cleaned up before fitting and what condition the discs were in

The disks where brand new and i cleaned them white spirit before fitting them. How can using copper slip "feck" them up ?

white spirit is not what you clean discs with, in the old days we used methylated spirits, but now you are not allowed to blow brakes clean with air line and have to use brake cleaner any way so use that instead. so i take it you have no brake cleaner so callipers didn't get a proper clean. that will be what is causing the problems

I've always used Mintex pads. Very long life, hardly any brake dust smothering rims. Ideal for white alloys and they perform pretty well. But if you want performance pads look up semi ceramic pads

Is this something that is already on the pads or do they come with the new ones?

On my greenstuff pads they had the shims already on the pads but when i had ultimax pads they didnt have any.

my green stuff they came in the box and you had to fit them your self
