Basically, my boot light is only working sporadically. I guess the most likely problem would be with the switch, but I'm just a little confused as to why it works every now and again.

Has anyone heard of this?

water ingress...unplug lock & dry/clean connector. (new locks are only £27)

Oh no, does that mean there's a leak somewhere? Should I be worried?

could be condensation, worth a look at the connector to find out. Dont forget to check the boot light bulb aswell !

I'd imagined that, as it occasionally does come on, the bulb is probably okay. I've never bothered looking at the boot catch internals. Is it easy to get at the bits that need cleaning?

you might check out the electrical conection between the car and the boot
it gets damaged over time because of opening and closeing the boot
