Driving down the M1 on saturday (11/12/10) the ASR and ABS warning lights came on with a message on the dash saying ABS UNAVALIBLE, ASR UNAVALIBLE, HILL HOLD UNAVALIBLE. A few miles down the road they went off and the car was fine again and there was no sign of it again on sunday
(12/12/10.)
Along comes monday (13/12/10).... I got in the car to go to work and I get about 2 miles down the road and the warning lights and warning messages appear again!
As soon as I got parked up at work I rang Fiat and explained what was going on and they said it could be anything from a corroded wire to a low voltage in the battery so I got the car to be diagnosed on friday (17/12/10.) Whilst on my break at work at 8pm I started the car up and all was fine again and on the drive home at 12am.....

Has anybody else had a problem like this happen to their car and if so how was it resolved

Yes happened to my new Bravo, the brake light switch needed adjusting, basically my brake lights were staying on now and again without me realising it and if you run with the brake lights on for too long it shuts off hill hold+ABS+ASR and puts a dash light on,
I fixed it by adding a thick stick on spacer to the metal tab where the switch touches on the brake pedal behind the lower foot well trim.
Very quick fix and cheaper than riding to the dealership and wasting time+diesel or trying to bend metal or adjusting brake rods.

Ive had the same lights come on, switch engine off and back on its there gone, but im not convinced there working. I dont think my abs is at least, testing with some hard breaking and no abs kicking in? I'll be watching this thread also.

My brake lights dont stay on when the warning lights are on as I was parked by infront of a wall and couldn't see the red glow. I think I will still take the trip over to the dealership just for peace of mind only problem is it's literally just come out of warrenty so it's going to set me back £60 for the diagnosis..... but for the braking system I can justify it. Thanks for the advice and I shall keep you posted with the progress

My brake lights were intermittent but i could tell cos if you dropped a pin on the pedal or just looked at it wrong the brake lights would come on some times.

Wise getting it checked, could be a faulty ABS sensor or anything!

Just picked the Grande up from the diagnostic at the dealership...... turns out it needs a new near side speed sensor. The diagnosis was only £35 which I'm quite happy with however the actual sensor is around £80. I miss warranty!
