Hi all,
I've had a nightmare day today, so I'll catch you up!

  • My 07-Reg Grande Punto Sporting 1.4 petrol was in for Service and it's first MOT.It was bought new in July 07.
  • It failed the MOT, due to the rear left brake caliper being "done" and in need of replacement
  • I checked and found out I still have a week or so on my warranty left - it expires June 28th - nice one!
  • But... upon phoning the warranty phoneline (found here), get told that the car is registered but not under my name (I'm guessing it's under the dealer's name)
  • Phone head office who tell me theyve created a case and I'll get a call back in 48 hours.
  • Phone the dealer I bought from (Arnold Clark, Sighthill, Edinburgh) and they say it's fine, take it to any Fiat dealership
  • Phone my local Fiat dealer (Park's East Kilbride - not where I bought it) and they say it MIGHT be covered by the 3rd year warranty, but bring it in anyway.
I've got 10 days to get it repaired under warranty and so many days (can't remember) to get the car back for a re-test.

So... any thoughts on whether it will be covered by the warranty?

Stressing me out big time today.(n)

If it isn't covered by the warranty, ask for the total repair costs from the company you brought it off. Only fair that way, if your not covered for repairs like that then get them to pay out :) (thats what I would do)

Do not stress about it. There is clearly an admin error somewhere between the dealer and Fiat UK, they'll sort it out soon. I take it the V5 shows you as the owner of the vehicle, correct?

My 1.9 JTD Sporting had three shock absorbers and two springs before going for its first MOT last year, thankfully LC Motors in Cwmbran sorted it all out quickly and my car passed the MOT with flying colours.

Take it easy and make sure if they do not contact you within 48 hours, you chase them! Good luck.

Over a year ago, I noticed on mine when applying the hand brake when rolling it squatted down at an odd angle, only the one side of the car squatted down. I took it into the dealer, turned out to be a defective brake calliper. Replaced under warranty, but that was in the first two year warranty. It was the the rear left brake.
