Styling JOM COILOVERS KIT Grande punto £250 ANY GOOD??

just fitted these to my mjet, few questions.

on the front theres two springs set up one looks alot softer then then other one, now when the weight of the car is on the springs the bottom spring is completly compressed (im geussing the mjet engine is too heavy!)

also do you use original bump stops and gaiters? i tried it lowered to the max and it was just riding on the bump stops! so i geus ill need to cut them down to suit.:bang:

No mate, that bottom helper spring should compress like that, its made to do that. It does it on my t-jet as well :)! And I used the bump stops that the coilovers came with. Had no problems with them so far and they have been on nearly 3 months now.

i think its called a helper spring mate. its there so when you go over bumps or lift your car up the main spring doesnt dislodge or move around on the shock assembly. im pretty certain its neccessary for an mot.

Nick, could you tell me which kit you got JOM or FK ? I think i will get a set for my brother :D!

ok, I'm looking at getting one of these kits, rather than fitting issues, and cosmetic looks, can someone give me a little review of the change in ride and handling please? thanks.

i use to think sportlines were worth the money and i guess they probably are if you upgrade shocks too(which i didnt), but now my car sticks to the floor with these fitted. i personally dont think theres a better mod for the money for a gp.

I'm going to e selling mine after Xmas, the car handles amazing, never had that moment of dout when cornering, mines set up with 20mm spacers 215 tyres and the forge sub braces, feels really tight!

Just a word of warning though it is a hard ride, no way to avoid it.

how low do you run them? min/max ect?

Not measured but I wound it down to the lowest setting and it was Too low, was Bottoming out alot. I found about 60% to best for general driving. I've got it on the highest setting now and it's about the same drop as my eibachs were!

Coilovers aren't designed to be good slammed, and with the weight of the 1.9 and a rear full of tools or adults it's beyond the design if them anyway, but defently not a waste of money as when set up right the handling is amazing, like a go kart!

I've never known anyone 'slam' a car and still have good drivability! I live in bham with rubbish roads and speed bumps everywere!

At the end of the day fk are a budget brand, there good, but not the best

I've had some FK's on for a few months now and think they're brilliant for the money. Handles amazingly well now, not many cars can keep up round the corners. Just don't lower them too much and the ride is fairly harsh to say the least.

yeah will fit any grande punto, not sure how they were designed though as its a pre-set damper and spring rate, so the heavy lump of the mjet on the front axel is going to give different characteristics to a barely existance 1.2l!(y)

Thanks for reply nick, I'll order a set this week then. Also after a set of 18's sometime in the week but I'm worried about scrubbing? Reckon these will go with a set of 18 inch alloys with no or little scrubbing?
