Hi there!

One year ago i bought a Grande Punto 1.4 16V Starjet Sport. I had to wait 2 months for a car with ESP so i decided to buy it without one. I didn't have a problem with that at that point, because the car itself is really stable. But now im starting to think about new car upgrades. Installing a turbo, new exhausts, remap etc... But there's one thing that's stopping me and thats the lack of ESP. I just wonder is there any point in getting more HP if i dont have ESP? I know the chassis can take a lot more power, but i just wonder if its worth it. Currently im having a problem with the 0-60 time, since the car is spinning tires easily in 1st gear and loosing a lot of time. With 50 HP more who knows, would i be able to even make a decent start? :) Of course im going to buy new 17" rims(15 atm), which means bigger tires and that could help my 0-60 time, but still... Should i go for these upgrades?

Is it possible to install ESP separately?

Thanks, but no thanks. I like this one. I like the engine too. I also dont plan to make the upgrades all at once(that is if i do get convinced to make them). So i dont think it will strain me that much with the money. I also dont think it will cost that much. I mean the turbo wont be a big one, the intercooler isn't that pricy. It should cost me around 2000 euros to install the turbo, maybe a bit more. Don't know about the exhaust system yet.

Edit: This one is barely 1 year old for crying out loud. Talking about new cars, i cant afford buying a new car every year. :D

What's the difference between this engine and the other 1.4 16V Turbo engines? Aren't we talking about the same engine here? Its not really that big of a deal to me if its really impossible. I could go for a remap and still enjoy it, its running quite good as it is. But it would be so much more fun to start a project like this. That's why im asking if its possible. :)

Oh boy. I get the point now. Didn't know its impossible to remap the 1.4 16V engine. That's weird.

In this case is there any point in doing anything to the car? Is it possible to squeeze 10-15 HP, or should i say, is it advisable considering that the engine isn't as durable as the T-Jet one. Any non risky way to up the fun?

My next Fiat is surely going to be a T-Jet one, but that will be after at least 2-3 years. Not to mention that i really prefer the looks of this one over the Evo.

your plans are pie in the sky if Im being totally honest.

You will be ALOT better off getting a T-Jet if you want a punto with a 1.4 Turbo engine, to add a turbo on to your car you will need the turbo, intercooler, exhaust manifold and all boost pipes, water pipes and oil pipes making up, the internals of the engine made stronger and the compression dropped.

you could try a full exhaust and a good quality enlosed induction kit on your car to give it a bit more go, but with moderate power increases you quickly get used to them and end up wanting more :(
