Hi all,

I am new to fiat so forgive any 'stupid' questions that I may raise now and indeed in the future!

I bought the wife a grande punto 1.4 16v sporting and it has disc brakes all round.

I noticed y'day my mates 1.4 16v GP model has drum brakes on the rear.

Same engine...
Same body...
Slightly different body kit...

Why different brake set up?

Dont get me wrong disks arebetter than drums but I cant figure why the cars would be different

Any thoughts?

Only reason is that the GP is a lower spec than the Sporting :)

Amazing to think really! ( I honestly cant think of any other manufacturer that would alter the key set up components for a car with same eingine but different trim!!)

Seem to remember someone in here once had a similar question a couple of years ago. The issue centered around the fact his car had rear drums and his mates identical model had discs. There was something about the rear seat, the way it split and the belts too.......Anyway....it turned out his was an import from Ireland and that the spec` was different over there from the pukka UK models.
