Tuning Engine Modifications 1.2

second thoughts ive got a 2.5L V6 out of a vectra sat on my drive sure you could squeeze that in with practically no modifications :p

you realise its not as easy as one engine out new one in, there will be ALOT more modifications to do and should not be taken lightly, can take a very long time to do properly

i have a GSR induction, remap, cat back exhaust and a bigger head on my car and i can keep up with saxo vtr's etc

Just a quick question,
I'm new but where did you get your bigger head for your car jamie? and would you be able to get them for a 1.4 16v sporting? :)
Thanks
Nick

Instead of spending 2 grand + on engine change by a faster car ! If you add it up its not worth it assuming you buy an engine then you have got to find some body willing to fit it that will cost hundrads. You can't just up rate the engine you will have to up rate the milk bottle tops other wise known as standard 1.2l brakes other wise you just won't stop. Then you got transmission to do to so it can hope with the extra power. Also your insurance would be stupid money thats even if they will insure you, then you will have to inform the DVLA of what you have done and finaly you will have compleatly ruined the resale price of your car no body will want it.

Save your money and buy a 130 mjet they are only group 6 insurance i am only 20 and my insurance was £800 fully comp. After you got 130 bhp under your belt if you still want to go faster you can get it remaped to over 160bhp, for less than £300. You can't polish a turd and make it into gold don't waste your time m8 seriously.

M-Jet's are quick standard, fast tuned. I surprised myself the other day when me and Scirocco 2.0tsi were flooring it from 40mph. I think he was gutted that he did not blast me, and it was pretty neck and neck upto the legal limit. When I looked at the torque figures they are exactly the same.

Been there, done it. Its a lot of work to do properly. Engine, Clutch, Brakes, maybe gearbox etc.

I did mine as a 'cost no problem' project and it easily cost the value of the car to do..Maybe I'm a lunatic. The result is worth it but I repeat damned expensive if you have to farm out and pay somebody else to do all the work.

Sell yours and buy a TJet.

surely, as the 1.4 replaced the 1.2 though, wont they be running the same gearbox and clutch and brakes etc? if not, id be surprised if the 1.2 one couldnt handle the little extra power?
if you was putting in a diesel, or for example that stilo abarth engine then yeah i could understand the need for change then
