Hi everyone, been looking around for info but can't find anything.
I wanted to know if I get an aftermarket recirc valve, would it sound different to the stock one?

I mean with an induction kit fitted of course, not looking for anything too loud just a nicer sound then stock.

Thanks in advance (y)

There is definitely some reading material & info here :-

I already searched here a few times but just double-checked. No the answer to my question isn't there.

Did by any chance you happened to just see the words 'dump valve' and send me away out of discust?

No not at all, TBH the sounds a car makes dont interest me but I accept some people want noises from induction and Re-circ valves so I took the trouble to do a Search for you....

By the way... it would have been disgust ;-)

Don't take it the wrong way, apologies for not thanking you, I am very grateful you took the liberty of doing a search for me.

As said before though, I already searched on here and a few other sites (one of which being Google) so I only asked here as a last resort - I wouldn't dream of wasting anyone's time (y)

sORRY i dont have a speelchecker I promise it was a slip of the finger ;)

IIRC - Someone has fitted a dump valve. I can't remember his name for the life of me though! - Met him at Red Dot. Has a red GP with remap and Abarth Turbo.

Wouldn't be a man by the name of Dangerous Dave would it? I just read a thread about him fitting the HKS SSQV.

My understanding of it is some cars react quite badly to the fitting of an atmospheric BOV, which is why I was swaying more along the lines of an aftermarket recirc.

I did mean to PM him when I get some free time when not at work.

dont forge do something like this for the T-jet turbo :S

I believe they do but it's difficult for me to tell which are atmospheric or recirculating, anyway I was looking for individual opinions and experience.

Pointless on standard boost
Under normal circumstances it would be counter-productive to change a perfect working part such as this for no reason.

I already have to change the stock DV as I am getting compressor surge because the valve is either faulty or broken, chances are I have to pay a generous sum for the Fiat valve so I may as well get one that sounds better.
If I were to get an aftermarket DV it would also mean I would benefit from a higher air flow through to the induction which I think regardless of boost would be beneficial to any setup

BOV or recirc?

Either way no it would make no difference.

I just edited it, my apologies I meant recirc DV.
It may not make any drivable difference but I may as well fit one if I have to replace the part anyway.

I only made the thread to ask if an aftermarket DV might sound different to the stock one.. I know this is a good community forum with good rapport between members, and you're only trying to stop me from being a chav TISHHHHHHH :p .. but I've thought about it and prefer the idea of a polished shiny high flow DV then a boring old plain plastic black one

Just want to know if there could be any audiable difference is all :(
(I'll be doing it regardless of sound anyway, the sound is just a cherry on top).

Tbh if the stock one is fcuked you may have to get a proper one as if the ECU picks up its not working properly it will panic and go into limp mode to stop it buggering up other stuff. The car is surely still under warrenty no?

This was another question I had.. I would've thought if it was a recirc DV there would be no problems with the engine management
Yes it's under warentee but I'm just interested in the aftmkt DV.

One question you may be able to answer while I remember Matt.. this has baffled me.. If we can take the recycling pipe off of our stock DVs, why doesn't this loss of 'boosted' air throw up ECU warnings?

Because you are doing it after the valve so as far as the car is concerned it still working as it should. After the valve it makes no difference to the car if it gets dumped into the atmosphere or induction.

If you are going to fit an aftermarket one then you do it after the standard one hence why it is pointless ;)

Reason there maybe problems is because the standard recirc is connected to the ecu, so disconnect this and the car thinks its broken.
